UOC to boost GaAs LD production with Aixtron tool
The Taiwanese company is expanding its MOCVD manufacturing capacity to grow gallium arsenide based lasers
Aixtron SE has sold an AIX 2600G3 Planetary Reactor to Union Optronics Corp. (UOC).
The system is capable of handling 49 x 2 inch wafers in each run. The purchase was made in the second quarter of 2012 with delivery due in the fourth quarter of 2012.

President, Hir-Ming Shieh of UOC comments, “Based on the good experience with our existing Aixtron AIX 2600G3 system, we are now preparing capacity for expanded business opportunities with this new AIX 2600G3. We consider this configuration to be the most suitable choice to ramp up our advanced laser production capacity.”
Christian Geng, Vice President Southeast Asia and General Manager of Aixtron Taiwan, adds, “We are excited that UOC has chosen Aixtron again, based on our superior technology and support, and we are looking forward to starting up this tool. UOC has an outstanding reputation for a wide range of laser diodes.”
UOC was founded in 1996 with its main products being optical laser diodes with wavelengths ranging from infrared (1550nm) to red (630nm). The company also sells epitaxial wafers, chips, and packaged laser diodes. The company is headquartered in Yangmei City, Taoyuan County.

Connecting the Compound Semiconductor Industry
The 13th CS International conference builds on the strengths of its predecessors, with around 40 leaders from industry and academia delivering presentations that fall within five key themes: Ultrafast Communication; Making Headway with the MicroLED; Taking the Power from Silicon, New Vectors for the VCSEL, and Ultra-wide Bandgap Devices.
Delegates attending these sessions will gain insight into device technology, find out about the current status and the roadmap for the compound semiconductor industry, and discover the latest advances in tools and processes that will drive up fab yields and throughputs.
