Philips and AOC Monitors use QD Vision's quantum dots

Philips and AOC have adopted QD Vision's Color IQ quantum dot technology for their new 27in high-performance LCD monitors.

The Philips and AOC monitors will be launched in China and available in the US in the second quarter of 2015. According to QD Vision, the monitors achieve 99 percent Adobe RGB colour at an aggressive price point.

"The colour we achieved on the new Philips 27in - (276E6A) monitors is truly groundbreaking, and represents a superior value for our customers," said Chris Brown, global product marketing (MMD/Philips monitors). "This is a premium product without the premium price tag."

"For the AOC 27in (I2771F9), Color IQ quantum dot technology provides a significant price performance advantage compared to other wide-gamut colour technologies, with colour that is equal to - or better than - comparable alternatives," said Sapling Chen, global product planning (AOC Monitors).

Matt Mazzuchi, VP market and business development at QD Vision said: "Our Color IQ optics enable Philips and AOC to deliver what consumers have been asking for - a superior visual experience at a cost-effective price."

QDs are semiconductor nanocrystals that possess unique light emitting optical properties. The emission wavelength spectrum of QD light can be tuned to create almost any colour of the visible spectrum.

Founded in 2004, QD Vision has raised more than $75 million in financing from venture capital firms and is headquartered in Lexington, Massachusetts, USA.
