Arralis shows new 94GHz devices at EuMW

MMIC power amplifier, image cancellation mixer, and variable attenuator designed for advanced systems

Arralis, a developer of high frequency chips, modules and antennas up to and beyond 110GHz,  is showing a number of new W-band MMICs at European Microwave Week, London this week. 

These include a power amplifier, image cancellation mixer, and variable attenuator which have been designed to meet advanced system requirements, according to the company.

 "We are delighted to participate in Microwave Week and again promote commercial 94GHz technology that exceeds expectations. We recently launched the worlds first W band up and downconverters and these have been a huge success for Arralis. We expect the same success with these new devices," said CTO, Mike Gleaves.

The power amplifier (TU-W1330305) is a four-stage MMIC that covers frequencies from 92GHz to 96GHz. The TU-W1330305 provides up to 20dB of flat, stable gain, and a power output of more than 18dBm from a 4V supply voltage and low current of 210mA.

The 92 to 96GHz TU-W1340310 image cancellation MMIC mixer is an I/Q MMIC diode mixer with integrated quadrature coupler for single sideband upconverter operation. TU-W1340310 is made using GaAs Shottky diode technology and is designed for output frequencies in the range from 92GHz to 96GHz using either fixed IF and varying LO (86GHz - 90GHz) or fixed LO and varying IF (2GHz - 6GHz) signals.

 The circuit employs a double rat race configuration to effectively cancel image signals without filtering and offers superior signal to noise performance.

The TU-W1401601 GaAs PHEMT MMIC attenuator/ SPST switch is a 90 to 100GHz device with a single input and output. The attenuation value may be adjusted to any value within the specified attenuation range. The chip is manufactured on a 50um substrate with 100um gate length. All bond pads and the die underside are gold plated. The control voltage ranges from +1.5V to -1.5V, the latter giving maximum attenuation

A packaged version of each device is also available with WR10 waveguide input and output on request.
