Workshop for Ultra-Precision Processing for Wide Band-Gap Semiconductors (WUPP) hears latest results from recently upgraded BLG-300 platform

Australian cleantech developer BluGlass has presented its latest technical data on its Remote Plasma Chemical Vapour Deposition (RPCVD) process at the Workshop for Ultra-Precision Processing for Wide Band-Gap Semiconductors (WUPP) in the USA.

BluGlass' RPCVD technology is a low temperature, low cost process, used to grow semiconductor materials such as GaN and InGaN.

BluGlass was invited to present at the 5th International WUPP workshop, which gathers many of the leading groups and companies in the nitrides community to discuss various topics ranging from LEDs, laser diodes and power electronics. The workshop will contribute to the further advancement of wide bandgap semiconductor devices through mixing researchers in wide bandgap semiconductors and ultra-precision processing.

BluGlass chief operations and technology officer, Ian Mann presented a talk titled "˜RPCVD of III Nitrides: Growth and Applications' where he introduced new performance data on RPCVD p-GaN for green LEDs and power electronics applications and also discussed preliminary RPCVD InGaN results for red-green-blue (RGB) LED and solar applications. These can be found here.

Mann said "It was a very productive conference with the BluGlass RPCVD technology receiving considerable commercial interest. Our latest results and technical progress have stemmed from the hard work of the BluGlass technical team and the recently upgraded BLG-300."

BLG-300, its larger Remote Plasma Chemical Vapour Deposition (RPCVD) platform, is being used to demonstrate to the industry that the RPCVD process can be brought to commercial scale, both in terms of deposition area and successful growth on larger sized wafers.

Mann added "We will continue to further develop and market RPCVD in these key areas to attract new customers and strategic partners whilst deepening our existing industry collaborations."

BluGlass has also announced that it has filed a new provisional patent application and will continue to strategically file patent applications as key advances are demonstrated.

BluGlass MD, Giles Bourne said "Following recent advancements of the RPCVD technology and our new patent application filings, BluGlass is now in a position to actively build and enhance our industry presence and present the competitive RPCVD capabilities as we continue to advance our commercialisation and marketing plans."
