III-V Epi says industrial demand is high

News

90 percent of turnover from customers in high-growth comms, additive manufacturing, LiDAR, and optical sensing industries

UK-based III-V Epi has announced that most of its revenue in the last year, has come from devices supplied for industrial applications with ongoing production requirements.

This demonstrates, says director Calum McGregor (pictured above), a clear need in the worldwide photonics industry for a trusted manufacturer of prototype and lower volume, III-V epitaxial structures by MBE and MOCVD.

The company provides a range of compound semiconductor wafer foundry services, specialising in the manufacture of low to medium volume, MBE and MOCVD, III-V, epitaxial structures and overgrowth for compound semiconductor device applications.

McGregor said: “As much as ninety percent of III-V Epi’s turnover is coming from industrial customers in high-growth, telecoms, datacoms, additive manufacturing, LiDAR, and multiple optical sensing industries. This is great commercially, as these customers are typically using our devices within live product ranges with growing supply requirements. This industrial business is also informed by the fast-turnaround, academic projects that make up the remainder of our portfolio.

“Industrial customers are using our specialist range of design, manufacture, test, and characterisation services to expedite device manufacture and bring new products to market as quickly as possible.”
