Ian Caldwell joins Vector Photonics

News

Caldwell appointed to fast-track PCSEL commercialisation

Vector Photonics has appointed Ian Caldwell as consultant programme manager, overseeing the company’s new product introduction (NPI) programme. Ian brings his extensive, industrial experience to the company, as it continues to commercialise its all-semiconductor PCSEL technology for data-centre and co-located optics markets.

Neil Martin, CEO at Vector Photonics, said: “Ian is a highly respected engineer and programme manager, successfully leading similar, national, and international programmes for industry leading companies Motorola, Freescale, NXP Semiconductors and Sivers Photonics.

"Ian will help to manage development projects which raise the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of our all-semiconductor PCSELs. This will expedite our move from prototype to volume production using a ‘fabless’, multi-vendor, supply model. Ian is a great asset to Vector Photonics, and we welcome him to the team.”

Ian has an Honours Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Strathclyde and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. In 2017, he worked as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) instructor at the Dumfries House Education Engineering Centre, part of ‘The Princes Foundation’ and home to many of HRH, The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay’s, flagship education programmes. Here he developed and delivered workshops in local schools to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.
