Wafer Technology Appoints Martin Lamb New Managing Director, Brian Seccull to Retire, Company Restructures Management

Milton Keynes, UK. Wafer Technology Ltd., the Milton Keynes, UK, based manufacturer of compound semiconductor wafer products, has announced the first of a series of planned changes in its senior management positions. Manufacturing Director Martin Lamb has been appointed Managing Director pending the retirement of the present Managing Director, Brian Seccull. This took effect from January 1st, 2000, but Mr. Seccull will continue as Financial Director until his retirement later this year.
Brian Seccull joined the company in 1988 and became MD at the time of the management buy-out of the company in 1994. "Brian has made an immeasurable contribution to the success of the company during his time here" said Karen Lamb, Sales and Marketing Director, "We wish him an enjoyable retirement later this year".
Martin Lamb joined Wafer Technology in 1985 after several years at Plessey Research Caswell, Towcester, UK. He has more than twenty years experience in the characterisation and manufacture of compound semiconductors. In the past fifteen years he has served at Wafer Technology with responsibilities including Quality Assurance and production technology development. He was responsible for the implementation of the company s ISO 9000 certification in 1993. Martin
has an MBA from the University of Leicester and BSc in Applied Physics & Electronics from the University of Durham.
"Thanks to Brian the company is now in a strong position and it will be my responsibility to continue his good work. The company has enjoyed excellent sales growth during the past five years and we are on course to further expand our customer base worldwide", commented Martin,
"in addition, we have a number of very exciting new product developments due to launch in the next few months. These will strengthen our product portfolio even further".
Karen Lamb concluded "Brian s departure will leave other gaps in our management structure, he will continue in the capacity of Financial Director until his retirement but we will need to start recruiting shortly for someone to continue in the very important finance role".
Wafer Technology Ltd. is the leading European supplier of vertical gradient freeze grown gallium arsenide wafers and a wide range of other III-V compounds including InP, InAs, GaSb and InSb.
