EPI MBE Products Group Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against Riber
EPI MBE Products Group has filed a patent infringement lawsuit naming Riber Inc., Edison, New Jersey, and Riber Inc. s parent company, Riber S.A. of Cedex France, as defendants. The suit alleges infringement of EPI s exclusively licensed U.S. Patent 5,156,815 related to effusion sources for MBE (Molecular Beam Epitaxy) systems.
MBE systems are used in the manufacture of compound semiconductors, a critical enabling technology for the telecommunications industry. Applications for compound semiconductors include mobile cellular phones, fiber-optic communications (transmitters, receivers & amplifiers) and optical data storage (i.e. digital versatile discs & compact discs).
The lawsuit was filed on January 26, 2000, in U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey, docket number 00-CV-388 (WHW).
