Novalux Implements Datasweep For Real-Time Manufacturing Visibility, Maximum Responsiveness and Quality Control

Source: Datasweep

SAN JOSE, Calif. Optical Component Supplier Leverages Datasweep s Web Based Supply Chain Solution To Leapfrog Competitors in the Booming Fiber Optics Market

Datasweep, Inc., the leading provider of real-time collaborative manufacturing solutions, today announced that Novalux, an emerging leader in the fiber optical component market, has implemented Datasweep Advantage(TM) within 16 weeks in its first production facility and plans to roll-out the solution throughout all of its manufacturing facilities and key suppliers. Novalux builds optoelectronic lasers for fiber optic systems that deliver video, data and voice systems to optical networks and must meet stringent industry requirements for component reliability, quality and bandwidth.

Datasweep provides Novalux with complete visibility into and control of the quality and work in process throughout its manufacturing supply chain. Datasweep also enables Novalux to capture and access detailed "as built" device history records of the specific components within final finished units. In addition, Novalux uses Datasweep s integrated data mart to perform complex analysis on high volumes of production information to identify high impact component design or manufacturing process improvements.

"There is no comparison between Datasweep Advantage and mainframe or client server manufacturing floor applications that I have been using for the past 20 years," said Gary Oppedahl, vice president of operations for Novalux. "Based on my experience and expertise in the semiconductor manufacturing industry and manufacturing software, I can confidently say that Novalux has gained a great advantage in manufacturing and quality control by implementing Datasweep."

Novalux s development of NECSEL(TM) (Novalux Extended Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers) technology is a breakthrough in the optoelectronic market and expands the information transmission capacity of a fiber network at significantly lower cost. As an emerging company in the demanding fiber optic market, Novalux products must provide and maintain high system availability.

"The optoelectronics market is a new and challenging frontier in manufacturing. Building fiber optics components is an extremely difficult manufacturing challenge characterized until now by very low yields, resulting in frequent shortages in the marketplace," said Vladimir Preysman, president and CEO of Datasweep. "We are pleased that Novalux has implemented our real-time collaborative manufacturing solution in 16 weeks and considers their new capabilities a source of competitive advantage in speeding time to market, improving yields and dramatically decreasing costs."
