Networking Solutions Division combines world-class fiber-optic and IC organizations to deliver high-value integrated solutions

Palo Alto, CA. Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that it has formed the Networking Solutions Division (NSD) to focus on the high-speed networking market. The new division unites Agilent s Fiber-optic Communications Division (FCD) and Integrated Circuit Business Divisions (ICBD) to deliver high-value semiconductor solutions that integrate fiber-optic and IC technology. The new division boasts a wide range of customers in the networking arena for its fiber-optic and IC products.

Dick Chang, who has over 30 years of experience at Hewlett-Packard Company and Agilent, will run the group as vice president and general manager, reporting to Bill Sullivan, senior vice president and general manager of Agilent s Semiconductor Products Group. Chang was most recently vice president and general manager of ICBD, and he has held positions in research, marketing, manufacturing and operations since joining HP Labs in 1967. He holds a bachelor of science degree in physics from the California Institute of Technology and a doctorate in applied physics from Stanford University.

"By combining the world s leading fiber-optic transceiver operation with expertise in high-speed networking products and million-gate ASICs, we have assembled a very powerful division" said Chang. "NSD has leading technology and market positions in several hot markets and, most importantly, we have an extremely talented team committed to providing market-leading solutions to our customers."

"There are few, if any, companies in the world that have as much expertise in as wide a range of communications disciplines as Agilent has," said Bill Sullivan. "By adding these two teams together, we expect to leverage these technologies into highly-integrated solutions that deliver increased value and faster time to market for our customers."
