  • 3-Temperature testing
  • Precise monitoring of DC and RF parameters

San Diego, CA. Space Electronics, Inc. (SEi), a part of Maxwell Technologies Electronic Components Group, announced today it has released its new line of Shason Instruments Power Amplifier Automated Reliability Test Sets (PAARTS). These systems are capable of performing 3-temperature life tests on discrete transistors, monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs), hybrid microwave integrated circuits (HMICs), and RF/microwave module assemblies.

The Shason Instruments test system consists of hardware and software used to initiate, supervise, and record temperature, electrical, and RF performance parameters automatically throughout the test duration. The devices-under-test (DUTs) do not have to be identical circuits or even circuits of similar design and function since each DUT has independent bias, temperature, and RF control.

The test station is operated through proprietary system software installed on a personal computer (PC). A Windows-based graphical user interface provides user-friendly control of the system configuration. Program functions include: test setup, monitoring, data presentation, supervision, and networking. The PC controls equipment and other subsystem circuitry through a General Purpose Interface Bus (GPIB), which supports future expansion and options. The test station can support testing of various modulation signals such as CDMA, inter-modulation characterization testing, multi-tone RF input signals, and can be equipped with a Semiconductor Parametric Analyzer for full I-V characterization.

"This state-of-the-art test equipment is designed to give the customer accurate measurement in close simulation of actual use of the parameters that affect the reliability of the part," said Roland Shaw, director of New Business Development for Shason Instruments Group, a part of Space Electronics, Inc. "We know our customers desire the highest level of confidence in the reliability of their RF technology and products. That s what these systems are all about, knowledge-generators for RF performance reliability."
