National Scientific Corporation Announces Receipt of a Further US Patent on Its Hetrojunction Bipolar Transistor

Source: National Scientific Corporation

Phoenix, AZ. National Scientific Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: NSCT) has received notice that it has been successful in its Continuation In Process (CIP) application on the Hetrojunction Bipolar Transistor (HBT). The HBT patent was granted on January 9th 2001, under US patent #6,171,920.

On June 15th 1999, National Scientific was granted a patent on the novel design and architecture for a Silicon based Gallium Phosphide / Gallium Arsenide HBT. This latest patent covers the intellectual property required to manufacture the transistor.

"Today s challenge in the industry is to make transistors smaller, faster and cheaper. National Scientific has developed a superior transistor that they feel will meet future challenges. Transistors are used in products ranging from the latest computers and communications devices to VCR s, cameras, clocks and many every day appliances," said Michael Grollman, Chief Operating Officer of National Scientific.

"As the communications industry demand for higher frequency devices accelerates, the advantages of using Silicon based components diminish. By combining the low cost of Silicon production with the efficiency of a GaP/GaAs emitter, NSC now has the technology in place to meet the future industry requirements. While other technologies have been developed to meet the high frequency requirement, they all have some limitations," said Graham Clark, Director of Global Sales and Marketing.

"We are at an interesting juncture in our development," said Lou Ross CEO and Chairman of National Scientific, "We hold the intellectual property on the Si/GaP/GaAs HBT design and also the manufacturing process. Our intellectual property portfolio is continuing to expand; we are currently are awaiting news on the other 3 CIP applications that have been submitted on our other products."
