Systems Will be Used to Support Growing Demand For DWDM Devices
Rockleigh, NJ. KDF today announced that a major supplier of components to the fiberoptic communications market has placed an additional order for three 654NTX in-line sputtering tools. The systems, which will begin shipping in March, will be used for dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) component production at two of this customer s manufacturing facilities. KDF is a leading supplier of physical vapor deposition (PVD) in-line batch systems.
"KDF s 654NTX sputtering systems offer the throughput, uniformity, and yield performance essential to DWDM component manufacturing," said Kurt Flechsig, president of KDF. "DWDM is an enabling technology in the truest sense. Internet users are screaming for more bandwidth, and DWDM is crucial to expanding the capacity of today s fiberoptic networks. Faced with growing DWDM demand, this customer again has relied on KDF to support its optical component manufacturing needs."
KDF has a proven track record of providing reliable, versatile, and cost-effective sputtering systems. The 654NTX, aimed at the rapidly growing telecommunications market, offers increased volume capacity by enabling multiple substrate material processing, or multiplexing. The system features enhanced etch & deposition uniformity, hi-vacuum, load lock, and high-speed batch processing. Four cathodes provide increased utilization and life capability for next-generation applications. With cathode selectable collimator technology, the 654NTX substantially increases lift-off performance - an enabling sputtering capability that raises the system s overall cost effectiveness. The system also has a small footprint, 12 x 12 substrate area, and can be applied to a full range of leading-edge microelectronic component manufacturing applications.
