Princeton, NJ Qusion Technologies, a new telecom component manufacturer aiming at monolithic integration of all optical components on a single chip, announced today its close collaboration with Peter Delfyett, Professor at the University of Central Florida School of Optics/CREOL (Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers). Prof. Delfyett will officially act as a research consultant, combining his and Qusion s research and development efforts in the integrated components field. These new components are fabricated using Indium Phosphide and other advanced manufacturing techniques and materials.
Qusion Technologies is a leading developer of monolithically integrated optical components on Indium Phosphide. Using the most advanced manufacturing techniques and materials, Qusion is creating integrated optical devices with tremendous precision that will reach unrivaled manufacturing yields, driving the 40 Gb/s system and beyond.
"Our collaboration with Professor Delfyett is a great asset for Qusion. It allows us to further expand our research and development department," said Fred Rappaport, CEO of Qusion Technologies. "Monolithic Integration of all optical components is a new research field and Prof. Delfyett is one of the highest authorities on the subject."
Peter Delfyett is Professor of Optics, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics at the University of Central Florida School of Optics/CREOL. There, he explores ways to increase the capacity of lasers and fiber optic lines to carry phone, computer and video information. Professor Delfyett is the recipient of many awards including a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists. He is also the Editor of IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics. Professor Delfyett s research interests include high-speed optoelectronics, photonic networks, optical information processing, ultrafast phenomena and optical physics and spectroscopy.
This announcement comes in the middle of a major expansion on the part of Qusion Technologies. Recently Qusion announced the opening of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in North Brunswick, New Jersey as well as the closing of its first round of financing of $9.5 million dollars.
About Qusion Technologies Qusion is using the most advanced manufacturing techniques and materials to create integrated optical devices with tremendous precision that will reach unrivaled manufacturing yields, driving the 40 Gb/s system and beyond.
