European Fiber Optic Market To Drive Infrastructure Components to Billions in Sales in the Region, According to New ABI European Studies

Oyster Bay, NY. As fiber optic networks are built out in Europe, thanks to a new era of competition, those selling the components for the networks will realize billions of dollars in sales during the next five years, according to a new series of reports from Allied Business Intelligence Inc (ABI).

"The European telecommunications market has always been considered a few years behind the US, but in the case of fiber optics this is not as true, as the region is catching up quickly," said ABI Senior VP of Broadband Communications Marc Liggio. "With the more recent deregulation, the progress in the building of the European Union and a more conducive geography -- the population centers are closely tied together -- many carriers have seen the opportunity for using fiber optics to serve the pan-European market."

The European fiber optics market is heavily advancing with developments in components such as switches, transmitters, amplifiers and receivers. ABI s new report service, "The European Fiber Optic Deployment Series," examines the European market for eight fiber optic components.

Other main findings of the series include:

· The total European market for semiconductor optical amplifiers will reach $138 million by 2005. · The next generation optical infrastructure market will reach $921 million by 2005. · By 2005, the DWDM market value will reach $753 million. · The broadband transmitter market will reach $1.6 billion by 2005. · By 2005, the market for broadband fiber optic photodiodes will reach $169 million. · The market for VCSELs in fiber optic communications will reach $213 million by 2005. · The fiber optic receivers market will be worth over $1 billion by 2005. · The market for erbium-doped fiber amplifiers will be worth $722 million by 2005.

ABI s new series allows the client to choose their own components and build a report to suit their individual needs. An overview of the market trends affecting each component is provided. Each segment report closely analyzes the specific equipment markets. For each equipment market, start-ups, acquisitions and mergers, and the regulatory influence on market growth is examined, as are shipment forecasts and regional and national markets and trends.
