Nitronex Corp. Purchases DIVA Pulsed IV Measurement System from Accent

Source: Accent Optical Technologies

Bend, OR. Accent Optical Technologies ( www.accentopto.com ), a leading supplier of process control and measurement tools for the optoelectronics, wireless, and silicon semiconductor equipment industries, today announced Nitronex Corporation s purchase of Accent s DIVA Pulsed IV Measurement System.

Nitronex Corporation, a leading GaN semiconductor company located in Raleigh, North Carolina, will use the tool to aid in device characterization and modeling.

It is well known that transistor DC and RF current-voltage characteristics are often not the same. In some semiconductor device types this difference can be significant enough to invalidate the DC data for the purpose of device modeling and circuit design from classical loadline theory. These problems can be even more severe when working with novel semiconductor materials such as Gallium Nitride and Silicon Carbide.

"We see the DIVA Pulsed IV System as instrumental in understanding the sources of current dispersion," said Ric Borges, Director of Device Engineering at Nitronex. "Since we combine expertise in high power RF devices with a novel widebandgap semiconductor, it made sense for us to invest in this equipment. The DIVA system can yield critical information on the thermal and midgap energy level time constants in our devices," added Borges.

"With DIVA, Accent has introduced an advanced technology in a simple one-box solution that enables RF and Microwave device designers, manufacturers and users to get their respective products to market sooner than ever before," stated Raj Mundhe, Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Business Development, Optoelectronics at Accent.
