Global Communication Devices and United Monolithic Semiconductors Enter Into Networking Components Agreement
North Andover, MA. Global Communication Devices (GCD) of North Andover, Massachusetts, a venture funded fabless supplier of highly integrated semiconductor devices for wireless networking applications, and United Monolithic Semiconductors (UMS) of Paris, France and Ulm, Germany, a leading manufacturer of Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) based Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMIC) for microwave and millimeter-wave wireless applications, today announced a teaming initiative to develop highly integrated chip sets for the communications market.
"By joining our strengths, we will combine GCD s silicon-based networking transceivers and mixed signal technology with UMS high frequency GaAs components," said Professor Heinrich Daembkes, president and chief executive officer of UMS.
"This agreement will allow both companies to combine their respective expertise in two different semiconductor technologies and allow GCD to take advantages of UMS foundry and world-wide marketing presence," added Geoffrey C. Dawe, president and chief executive officer of GCD.
About United Monolithic Semiconductors United Monolithic Semiconductors, an ISO 9001-certified manufacturer, designs, develops, manufactures and markets proprietary MMICs for wireless communications applications such as Broadband Wireless, VSAT, High Data rate optical fiber links, wireless local loop, Intelligent Traffic Systems, Automotive ACC & short range sensors, and ISM Wireless.
United Monolithic Semiconductors offers a broad array of products including power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, mixers, frequency generation and multifunction parts. The company s strategy is to focus on microwave and millimeter-wave markets by offering complete solutions through standard and custom-designed MMIC chipsets in order to ease its customer life.
