Sensors Unlimited Expands Princeton Facility (Fiber Optics News)

Sensors Unlimited has opened its newly expanded facilities in Princeton, NJ for the design and manufacture of InGaAs photodiode arrays for monitoring fiber-optic networks. The company, now part of Finisar, currently has over 35,000 sq.ft. of space, including a class 1,000/100 cleanroom for device processing and testing of detectors and lasers. Facilities include photolithography, dielectric deposition, thermal and e-beam metal deposition, p-contact diffusion and annealing, chip dicing and automatic probing. Test facilities include infrared detector testing and automated characterization of lasers with wavelengths from 0.65 to 5 mm. "The cleanroom has tripled in size to over 5,000 sq.ft. and includes increased use of automation of the company s operations, which speeds the fabrication process," said John Sudol, VP of operations. "In addition, we can now produce larger size wafers, which yields more linear arrays per wafer and exponentially increases our production output."
