Reactor Sales (Materials and Equipment)
Intelligent Epitaxy Technology (IntelliEPI) has ordered three Riber MBE systems, including an MBE6000 system (4 6-inch) and two MBE7000 production MBE systems (7 6-inch), for delivery in 2001. IntelliEPI has installed an MBE6000 reactor at its Richardson, Texas facility, the first of the four reactors bought as part of its recently announced expansion program [see CS 6(8), p. 39]. Qusion Technologies, a recent start-up based in Princeton, NJ (see Fiber-Optics News), has ordered an AIX 2400G3 MOCVD system from Aixtron for growth of InP-based laser materials and other modules for fiber optic systems. In addition, Aixtron has sold an AIX 2400G3 reactor to Opto Speed, a group with subsidiaries in Switzerland, Germany and Italy that has decided to increase its epitaxial production capacity for InP-based lasers, detectors and other optoelectronic devices used in 10 Gb/s product families.
