Multiplex Opens High-Speed Design Center (Fiber Optics News)
Multiplex, a vertically integrated manufacturer of optoelectronic components based in South Plainfield, NJ, has announced the opening of a high-speed IC design center in San Jose, CA. The West Coast location will serve as an additional R&D arm to develop high-speed laser packages and receivers. "With the addition of this design center, we will be able to dramatically cut our new product development times," says Multiplex president Won Tsang. "We currently offer end-to-end photonics for 10 Gb/s applications, and the advancement of our R&D capabilities will greatly speed our entry into the world of 40 Gb/s transmission rates and other high-speed solutions." Multiplex manufacturers high-speed electro-absorption modulated lasers for 2.5 and 10 Gb/s data rate applications, photoreceivers (including a variant that features an integrated limiting amplifier), high-power 980 nm pump lasers and electronically-tunable transmitters.
