PerkinElmer teams up with new start-up (Fiber Optics News)

PerkinElmer (Boston, MA) is partnering with CENiX, a recent start-up with operations in Pennsylvania and California, to develop 10 and 40 Gbit/s receivers for advanced optical networks and datacom applications. PerkinElmer Optoelectronics is a vertically integrated manufacturer of numerous components, including receivers and detectors for telecommunications and laser diodes for a range of applications. CENiX will incorporate InGaAs APD and PIN photodiodes manufactured by PerkinElmer into its optical subsystem components, which will be manufactured at CENiXs new automated 43 000 sq. ft plant in Pennsylvania s Lehigh Valley. "This alliance with CENiX represents a significant step in further strengthening our telecom business," said John Engel, president of PerkinElmer Optoelectronics. "We are very excited about partnering with a company who can provide optical component design, development and manufacturing experience."
