SDL orders Aixtron MOPVE reactors (Materials and Equipment)
SDL, the leading manufacturer of GaAs-based 980 nm pump lasers, has ordered two MOVPE systems. Aixtron, who will deliver the AIX 2400G3 reactors by September, says the systems will be used in the manufacture of InP-based lasers. These are most likely to be 1480 nm pump lasers for EDFAs and/or 14001500 nm lasers for Raman amplifiers. SDL is now part of JDS Uniphase.
