AXT adds 850 nm oxide-confined VCSEL arrays to portfolio (Fiber News)
AXT s VCSEL Technologies Division (Fremont, CA) has developed 850 nm oxide-confined VCSEL arrays in 1 12 and 1 4 configurations. Available in volume production quantities, the arrays are based on the company s recently introduced oxide VCSEL designed for data modulation rates up to 3.125 Gbit/s (see Compound Semiconductor June 2001, p13). The arrays applications include short-reach optical interconnections and transceivers. This includes InfiniBand designs, which are based on a high bandwidth standard architecture to link processors and I/O devices. Each VCSEL operates in excess of 2.5 Gbit/s, and the 1 4 array modulates data at up to 10 Gbit/s (OC-192). The 1 12 array supports 30 Gbit/s data rates. The typical power output of each VCSEL is 1 mW, with output slope efficiencies of 0.450.50 mW/mA (see ).
