Agility selects Brooks to boost productivity (Materials and Equipment)

Agility Communications has spent $1 million to purchase several of Brooks Automation s Computer Integrated Manufacturing systems. The management software will be incorporated into Agility s manufacturing facilities to increase the yield and throughput of the company s tunable laser products. The software includes factory planning, dispatch management and equipment automation, in addition to fault detection programs. "As Agility builds on the momentum it has generated in the rapidly emerging optical network market, we must ensure that we keep manufacturing costs to a minimum," said Jim Haynes, Agility s CEO. "This purchase immediately gives us an improved process and work-in-progress control in our facility and puts us in an excellent position for future expansion."
