Conexant develops PA for handsets (New Devices)

Newport Beach, CA. Conexant has developed a new PA for W-CDMA mobile handsets. The CX77115 employs the company s proprietary SystemSmart platform to meet the efficiency and spectral linearity requirements of W-CDMA standards. The handset uses information received from the base station to determine how much power is necessary to complete a call, and adjusts the power in the PA accordingly for the minimum amount of current drain. In addition, the power amplifier does not require a regulated reference voltage supply, eliminating the need for a power management IC. Based on a 50 GHz GaAs HBT process and packaged in a 6 6 mm impedance matched "micro-module", the CX77115 is sampling now with volume production scheduled for the third quarter of 2001 (see ). www.conexant.com
