TriQuint broadband PA targets OC-192 (New Devices)

Hillsboro, OR. TriQuint has unveiled a driver/receiver broadband amplifier for 10 Gbit/s DWDM applications. Based on a GaAs PHEMT process, the company s TGA1328 device operates from DC to 20 GHz. The amplifier is also suited to 12 Gbit/s applications that incorporate forward error correction. Flexible operation is provided as either a receive amplifier (17 dB gain), or a modulator driver with an 8 V peak to peak output drive, which affords designs that suit long haul, medium haul and metro fiber systems. Typical operating conditions include a jitter value of less than 2 ps. For driver applications at 8 V, the power dissipation is 1.2 W, and two cascaded stages are designed to drive 0.5 V input to 8 V peak to peak output. Pre-production quantities are available now at a cost of $285 in die form (1000 quantities). Volume production is expected in the third quarter (see ). www.triquint.com
