Flextronics manufactures for K2 and Gore (Fiber News)
Flextronics has received subcontracts to manufacture VCSEL transceivers for W L Gore and external cavity laser modules for K2 Optronics. Based in Singapore, Flextronics Photonics is one of the world s largest non-captive photonic manufacturers, offering design, process development and volume manufacturing of active and passive components. "Flextronics Photonics has established itself as the leading component contract manufacturer and is committed to providing the manufacturing automation processes that the metro optical networking industry needs to succeed," said Bill Daniher, K2 s VP of operations. "Flextronics also provides several of the critical packaging design elements, which benefits our time-to-market and offers a value-added manufacturing partnership." nLIGHTEN goes to higher speeds Flextronics will manufacture Gore s nLIGHTEN multichannel optical transceiver module, a VCSEL-based product offering an aggregate bandwidth of 15 Gbit/s (1.25 Gbit/s per channel). Gore says a second generation of nLIGHTEN modules operating at 2.5 Gbit/s per channel will also enter volume production by the end of the year.
