CATV amplifier from Anadigics (New Devices)
Warren, NJ. Anadigics has released a new GaAs cable television (CATV) chip that provides the reverse path amplification and the output level control functions necessary in two-way CATV system designs. The ARA2005 has been developed for high-speed cable modems, telephony over cable systems and open cable set-top boxes. Produced using the company s 6 inch GaAs wafer manufacturing capability, the ARA2005 exceeds MCNS/DOCSIS harmonic performance requirements at +60 dBmV output levels, and operates from a single +5 V supply. Anadigics amplifier supports the 5100 MHz frequency range with a typical noise figure of 3 dB. The ARA2005 also demonstrates a second harmonic distortion level of 75 dBc and third harmonic distortion level of 60 dBc. Both the input and output are matched to 75 ohms. Sampling now, the device is housed in a 28 pin SSOP and is priced at $2.85 in quantities of 10,000 (see ). www.anadigics.com
