M/A-COM unveils new HBT process (New Devices)

Lowell, MA. M/A-COM has introduced two new amplifiers for cellular band and PCS band TDMA/CDMA wireless handsets. The MAAPSS0003 and MAAPSS0006 are two-stage PAs fabricated using the company s new InGaP/GaAs iHBT process, and are intended to offer improved performance and reliability compared to its existing AlGaAs-based HBT emitters. Operating from a single 3.03.5 V supply, the devices feature drive and bias control circuitry elements and are available in 3 3 mm or 4 4 mm FQFP-N packages. In the 824849 MHz frequency range of operation, M/A-COM s PAs typically provide 29 dBm of output power and 35% linear efficiency. The MAAPSS0006 also pairs with the company s MD59-0054 upconverter/ driver IC. Both devices are priced at $1.99 in quantities of 100 000. www.macom.com
