Anadigics CATV downconverter (New Devices)

Warren, NJ. Anadigics new downconverter and dual synthesizer IC is engineered for set-top boxes, CATV tuners and cable modems (see ). Leveraging the company s GaAs and CMOS technology, the ACD2202 integrates an LNA, balanced mixer, the active circuits for a local oscillator, and a dual synthesizer into a 28-pin SSOP surface-mount package. The double-conversion architecture eliminates the need for production alignment, and provides a flat gain response that enables cable operators to monitor systems remotely. Employing a single +5 V supply, the ACD2202 offers 10 dB of conversion gain, an 8 dB noise figure and a local oscillator phase noise of 90 dBc/Hz (10 KHz offset). The typical total power consumption is 600 mW. The integrated design significantly decreases the number of external components, reducing the cost and complexity of the tuner. www.anadigics.com
