OSI samples OC-192 photodetectors (New Devices)

OPTO PRODUCTS Hawthorne, CA OSI Fibercomm is marketing a new 10 Gbit/s photodetector for fiber-optic applications. Currently available in sample quantities, OSI s FCI-InGaAs-25C is based on an InGaAs/InP high-speed photodiode chip. OSI claims that the planar device architecture leads to a less expensive photodiode in comparison with devices with co-planar contact structures. Applications include high-speed optical receivers in the 13101620 nm wavelength range, and picosecond optical time-measuring instruments. The device achieves a dark current of 100 pA at an operating reverse bias of 5 V. While the InGaAs photodetector chips are designed and tested at OSI, they are currently manufactured externally. www.osifibercomm.com
