New transceivers link audio devices (New Devices)

OPTO PRODUCTS Irvine, CA Toshiba America Electronic Components has unveiled new transmit/receive modules for digital audio optical interconnects (see ). The company s TOSLINK modules employ GaAs LEDs operating in the 650660 nm range, and are designed for data rates up to 15 Mbit/s in set-top boxes, DVD players, desktop and portable computers, and other commercial appliances. Operating from a 3.0 V supply, the TOTX141 transmitter provides data rates of 15 Mbit/s and enables as many as five channels of high-definition digital audio. At the receive end of the module a minimum input power of 27 dBm can be accommodated. www.taec.toshiba.com
