Vishay Adds LEDs, Schottky Diodes (New Devices)
OPTO PRODUCTS Malvern, PA Vishay Telefunken has added blue, blue-green and true green emitters to its spectrum of high-brightness surface-mounted LEDs. The applications for the InGaN-on-SiC devices include backlighting and indicators in automobiles, phones, fax machines, and other equipment requiring backlit LCDs (see ). The emission of the blue device is centered on a wavelength of 470 nm, and the total luminous intensity is 40 mcd. The 505 nm blue-green device and 525 nm green emitters supply 130 and 180 mcd respectively. All the chips are specified for a 5 V reverse voltage at 20 mA forward current and feature a 60 angle of half intensity. Housed in 1.65 2.8 2.4 mm thin profile packages, the devices are provided in 8 mm tape and reel form and are available in sample and production quantities. The company has also introduced new Schottky diodes. The 103 series provides a maximum forward voltage drop of 0.37 V at 20 mA forward current, and a maximum leakage current of 5 A for a reverse voltage of 30 V. Each diode is rated for a single surge current of 15 A and typical junction capacitance of 50 pF at a frequency of 1 MHz. The company suggests a range of applications including steering, biasing and coupling functions in fast-switching logic-level, DC-to-DC converters and low-current power supplies. www.vishay.com
