WJ breaks into China's infrastructure sector
San Jose-based WJ Communications says it has won an initial volume production order from a telecommunications equipment provider in China.
The contract will see WJ supply the company with its ECM168 power amplifier (PA) modules.
The 1.9 GHz modules are based on InGaP/GaAs HBT process technology and will be used in general purpose repeaters and base stations.
"This initial order is a milestone for us as we enter a new and significant market supplying power amplifier products," said WJ s CEO Michael Farese. "Our growing portfolio of products in this family expands our total addressable market by approximately $80 million."
The ECM168 PA module features 34 dB gain with +33.5 dBm linear output power, which meets personal handyphone system (PHS) requirements. PHS is an open wireless communication standard that was formulated in Japan for digital cordless telephones originally.
