In brief: II-VI, SemiSouth and Anadigics
SiC substrate manufacturer II-VI will partner with SemiSouth Laboratories and Mississippi State University (MSU) to construct a manufacturing facility for 2, 3 and 4 inch SiC substrates in Starkville, MS.
According to Tom Anderson, general manager of II-VI's Wide Bandgap Materials Group, the company chose Starkville for its long-term volume manufacturing because of its favorable business climate and its close proximity to MSU and SemiSouth.
The collaboration will start in the Powe Center at MSU, but when demand for its SiC material exceeds capacity the partnership will build a larger manufacturing facility in Starkville.
II-VI will continue to develop wide bandgap materials technology and products at its technical center in Pine Brook, NJ.
