T-Networks and ASIP merge to form Apogee

ASIP and T-Networks have merged to form Apogee Photonics, an optical component manufacturer producing lasers for all segments of the 10 Gbit/s fiberoptic market.

US-based optical component manufacturers T-networks and ASIP are merging into a newly formed company called Apogee Photonics.

Apogee has secured $9.7 million in funding, which includes contributions from existing ASIP and T-Network investors Atlas Ventures, BlueRun Ventures, Finaventures, Intel Capital, Redpoint Ventures and TL Ventures.

The newly formed company has appointed Mike Decelle, former CEO of ASIP, as its CEO.

"Apogee will be able to address all segments of the 10 Gbit/s fiberoptic market, from very short-reach datacom links to high-performance, dense wavelength division multiplexing transport networks," remarked Jonathan Ebinger, a general partner at BlueRun Ventures.

The newly formed company claims that it offers the broadest range of cooled and uncooled 10 Gbit/s lasers.
