Anadigics plans a share sale to pay off debts, Applied Optoelectronics wins $10 million, AXT is awarded ISO 14001 certification, and Intematix provides phosphors for LED manufacturer Kingbright.
Anadigics files for share sale
Anadigics is planning to pay off a $46.7 million debt and raise cash by selling between 9 million and 10.35 million shares.

The US-based chip maker has filed a request with the US Securities and Exchange commission to issue 9 million shares, with the option to offer up to an additional 1.35 million shares if the sale is oversubscribed.

Anadigics says that the income will be used to pay off its outstanding $46.7 million Convertible Senior Loan Note that is due on November 16, 2006, and to fund general corporate purposes, including capital expenditures.

AOI nets $10 million
Applied Optoelectronics Inc. (AOI), a manufacturer of laser diodes, photodetectors and optical modules for fiber optic communication systems, has raised $10 million in its Series D private equity investment.

The company, which is headquartered in Sugar Land, TX, has now generated $39 million since its inception in early 1997.

AXT gains ISO 14001:2004
Compound semiconductor substrate manufacturer AXT has been awarded the ISO 14001:2004 standard.

The internationally recognized standard provides guidance for managing the environmental aspects of a company's activities, products and services, while taking into consideration environmental protection, pollution prevention and socioeconomic needs.

"This certification, along with our ISO 9001 quality certification, further strengthens our competitive position and underscores our commitment to serving our customers and our community," remarked company CEO Phil Yin.

Intematix supplies phosphors to Kingbright
Intematix Corporation of Fremont, CA, is now providing its patent-backed phosphors to Kingbright Electronic, a Taiwan-based manufacturer of LED-based lamps and displays.

"We have integrated our own unique packaging technologies with Cree chips and Intematix phosphor to deliver the optimal performance, as well as the best value, into the global marketplace," commented Kingbright CEO Wen Joe Song.
