GaAs supply chain overstretched, says Aviza

The equipment maker says its recent $15 million-plus deal with WIN Semiconductor reflects a need for more, higher-yielding, processing tools to serve chip makers focused on communications markets.

Wafer processing equipment maker Aviza Technology has received its largest ever order from a GaAs manufacturer, supplying multiple tools to Taiwan foundry WIN Semiconductor, and says that the deal reflects under-provision of capacity elsewhere.
