Compound Semiconductor Industry 'to Benefit From SPP And ATL Merger'

In light of the recent SPP and ATL merger, it has been suggested that those in the compound semiconductor industry will benefit from the move.
Customers in the compound semiconductor industry are among those who will benefit from Sumitomo Precision Products (SPP s) acquisition of Aviza Technology Limited (ATL), it has been claimed.

The deal – which was closed on October 16th – includes the latter company s thermal products business, global sales, service assets and personnel, as well as its single wafer process equipment subsidiary.

Under the brand SPP Process Technology Systems (SPTS), ATL and other assets will merge with Surface Technology Systems – which is a wholly owned subsidiary of SPP.

Susumu Kaminaga, president of SPP and chairman of SPTS, said the agreement is exciting and would enable the companies to broaden their product lines.

"We feel all STS and Aviza customers in … compound semiconductor, advanced packaging … and power device industries will benefit from more technology options from one supplier, with enhanced global service and support," he stated.

SPP currently develops and produces technology for aerospace products, heat control devices, hydraulic controls, environmental systems and sensors, among others.ADNFCR-2855-ID-19415031-ADNFCR
