PureSpectrum enters LED market

A new player has entered the LED market.
PureSpectrum Lighting has entered the highly competitive light-emitting diode (LED) market with its new product - the PAR38.

The Par38 can provide 30,000 hours of light output to the equivalent of a 75-watt incandescent bulb. It contains 42 LEDs and consumes approximately nine watts of power.

"Our goal has always been to introduce products and technologies which are in demand now and viable in the long term and we cannot ignore the energy and cost savings offered by LED products for niche markets," commented company director of product development Garth Kullman.

The product is to go on display at both the National Hardware Show and LightFair International, which are taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada in May.

PureSpectrum was founded in Savannah, Georgia in 2006 and is a developer of new lighting technologies which it hopes will become the cornerstones of energy-efficient illumination in the future.

Up to now, the firm has focused its efforts on designing breakthroughs in ballast circuitry for electronic ballasts to manufacturers.
