VPEC reportedly lands big order from Skyworks

The Taiwanese firm is likely to see a monthly company high in July 2010 thanks to the new deals with Skyworks.

Visual Photonics Epitaxy Company (VPEC) are likely see July 2010 revenues score the company's monthly high, and revenues for the third quarter of 2010 grow over 15% sequentially. DigiTimes have reported that according to market watchers, the Taiwanese GaAs wafer supplier has secured new orders from Skyworks.

The watchers estimated that VPEC's June revenues may drop slightly on month, but stand at a high level. Orders from Skyworks will reflect in its financial figures starting from July, said DigiTimes.

VPEC is also a major GaAs wafer supplier for TriQuint Semiconductor. Previous reports cited industry sources as saying VPEC has been a beneficiary of TriQuint's role as a supplier to Apple.

Both TriQuint and Skyworks are among the component suppliers for the new iPhone 4, according to a teardown by iSuppli.

VPEC generated revenues of NT$180 million (US$6 million) in May, an all-time high. Revenues through the month totaled NT$719 million, up 60.8% from a year earlier.

Market watchers have also indicated that another recent report has suggested that GaAs foundry players Advanced Wireless Semiconductor Company (AWSC) and Win Semiconductors are both expected to see their June revenues break historical records. AWSC and Win Semi, are contract partners for Skyworks and TriQuint respectively.
