5N Plus will provide Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) to Abound Solar. The precursor material will be used to manufacture next-generation thin-film solar modules.

5N Plus, a developer and producer of high-purity metals and compounds for electronic applications has signed a long-term supply agreement with Abound Solar.

Under the terms of this agreement, 5N Plus will provide to Abound Solar, Cadmium Telluride (CdTe)to be used in the manufacturing of the company's next-generation thin-film solar modules.

5N Plus President and CEO Jacques L'Écuyer stated, "We are pleased to report that this agreement has been signed, following the memorandum of understanding with Abound Solar that we announced in January 2010. This agreement reinforces our position as the supplier of choice for CdTe in the solar industry.

5NPlus draws its name from the purity of its products, 99.999% (five nines or 5N) and more. Its head office is in Montreal, Québec. The firm is a fully integrated producer and closed-loop recycler of highly purified metals and compounds. It produces metals such as tellurium, cadmium, germanium, indium, antimony, selenium and related compounds such as cadmium telluride ("CdTe"), cadmium sulphide ("CdS") and indium antimonide ("InSb").

These products are critical precursors that customers use in a number of electronic applications, including the rapidly-expanding solar (thin-film photovoltaic) market.
