Luminus’ LEDs Light Stage on Crowded House World Tour
The firm’s PhlatLight LEDs bring new levels of performance to the entertainment lighting industry.
Luminus Devices, developer and manufacturer of big-chip PhlatLight® LEDs, has announced that its CBT-90 white PhlatLight LEDs are now used inside Martin Professional’s new MAC 350 Entour lighting fixtures lighting the stage on Crowded House’s World Tour. The 1980’s Australian rock band is currently touring in North America.
The MAC 350 Entour is the entertainment lighting industry’s first LED alternative to traditional high intensity discharge (HID)-based profile fixtures. It exceeds traditional 300 watt fixtures in brightness and comes equipped with seven CBT-90 white PhlatLight LEDs and has a total light output of 8,000 lumens and a lifespan of more than 25,000 hours. These light levels were previously achieved only with high energy discharge lamps.
“The MAC 350 Entour is a powerful and bright lighting fixture with the industry’s only big-chip LED architecture. Combine that with its energy-efficiency and the industry has an affordable and long-lasting alternative to HID-based fixtures still in wide use in touring and entertainment environments,” said Peter Skytte, product manager, Martin. “Luminus enables Martin to build next-generation lighting solutions ideally suited for entertainment environments.”
The MAC 350 Entour is well suited for touring and event environments, and permanent venues such as theatres, TV studios, sporting arenas, education facilities, night clubs, ballrooms and cruise ships, where high-brightness and performance is needed. Until now, profile lights have used traditional HID lamps that are costly to replace, contain mercury and have a life span of only 3,000 hours, necessitating frequent replacement.
