GaAs Back with a Bang with Protokraft Optoelectronic Products

The high performance Sabre Series 11-02 designed for military, aerospace, industrial and utility applications are gallium arsenide (GaAs) based. The transmitters are high performance 850nm VCSELs while the optical receivers are based on a GaAs PIN structure.

Protokraft has introduced its Sabre Series 11-02 high speed optoelectronic solutions with Souriau´s ELIO optical interfaces. The devices are designed for military, aerospace, industrial and utility applications where significant levels of shock, vibration and extreme temperature ranges are experienced.

These components integrate the functions of optical transmitters or receivers into the shell of a standard D38999 / ELIO size 11-02 optical connector. Designed for use in harsh environments, they are compact and light.

Protokraft Sabre series 11-02 high speed optoelectronic products consist of fiber optic transmitter or receiver functions integrated into an environmentally sealed D38999 shell with a Souriau ELIO optical interface per ARINC 818, 803 & 804. The Sabre series optoelectronic transmitters and receivers have an ELIO 2.5mm ceramic optical fiber ferrule connector interface per EN 4531 and ABS 1213 & 1379 and can be used with Souriau ELIO size 11-02 connectors.

The optical transmitters are high performance 850nm VCSELs. The optical receivers consist of GaAs PIN and preamplifier assemblies and limiting post-amplifiers. The optical interface to the Sabre series Ethernet optical media converters is a Souriau ELIO connector enabling interconnection to preterminated ELIO based optical fiber cable assemblies.

The electrical interface to the Sabre series optical media converters is a 12 position pin header facilitating easy interconnection to printed circuit cards, backplanes or flexible printed circuits. The transmitter input lines are driven with differential CML, LVDS or LVPECL signals applied to the Transmit (TX+ and TX-) pins.

The optical receivers consist of PIN and preamplifier assemblies and limiting post-amplifiers. Electrical outputs from the receivers consist of differential CML, LVDS or LVPECL data signals on the Receive (RX+ and RX-) pins and single ended CMOS or LVPECL signal detect functions with output squelch on the Signal Detect (SD) pins.
