Soraa's LED Optical Light Engine Named Light Source of the Year

News
Two LED Lamps also highly commended in awards competition

Soraa, the maker of GaN on GaN LED technology, has announced that its LED Optical Light Engine was named Light Source of the Year at the Lighting Design Awards 2015, hosted at the London Hilton this week.

On top of this achievement, both the AR111 LED with SNAP System and Constant Current MR16 LED lamps were 'Highly Commended' in the same category. This recognition joins other awards Soraa has received over the past 12 months including: LEDs Magazine Sapphire Awards, Architectural SSL Magazine Product Innovation Awards (PIA), Red Dot Awards 2014, among others.

"To be shortlisted in one of these categories is an accomplishment in itself, so the fact that Soraa had not one, but three products shortlisted for 'Light Source of the Year' is a truly exceptional accomplishment," said Nick Farraway, Senior VP International Sales and Marketing. "When the LED Optical Light Engine was announced the winner of the category, I was excited, but not surprised. Fixture manufacturers have been asking for a compact, powerful, high-quality light engine and our full visible spectrum GaN on GaN LED technology has delivered."

At this year's Lighting Design Awards, over 700 designers, architects and suppliers attended the event to celebrate the achievements and innovations made by the lighting design community. The panel of judges included 28 professionals from all points of the specification and supply chain including engineers, designers, specifiers, sales professionals and even journalists.

Designed for seamless fixture integration, Soraa's Optical Light Engines are compatible with a wide variety of industry-standard LED drivers and suitable for use in enclosed, non-ventilated indoor and outdoor fixtures.
