Skyworks Launches RF Switches for Internet of Things

GaAs and silicon-on-insulator devices support high data rates and operation across 20MHz to 6GHz

Skyworks Solutions is introducing a range of analogue switches for Internet of Things (IoT) applications including the connected home and smart lighting.

The family of IoT switches includes the SKY13587-378LF - a pHEMT GaAs FET switch that can be used in various transmit/receive applications. It supports a broad frequency range 20 MHz to 6 GHz, has low insertion loss (0.35 dB typical at 2.45 GHz) and high isolation (24 dB typical at 2.45 GHz) with excellent linearity performance.

Another device is the SKY13588-460LF -  a CMOS silicon on insulator (SOI) single-pole, triple-throw switch with high linearity and low insertion loss. The device is packaged in a compact quad flat no lead 2 x 2 x 0.55 mm package.

In addition to supporting high data rates and broad frequency ranges, the integrated switches operate at elevated temperatures, says the company, making them suited for embedded smart energy and lighting applications where small form factors are required and ambient temperatures can reach up to 105degC.

"The introduction of our newest devices reflects Skyworks' commitment to delivering the broadest, highest volume RF switch portfolio in the industry with unmatched product quality, customer support and the best product development pipeline. Our solutions continue to enable some of the fastest growing Internet of Things applications as the world becomes more connected," said David Stasey, vice president and general manager of analogue solutions for Skyworks.
