Epistar looks to LED filament-style lamp market
Epistar plans to lead growth in the LED filament-style lamp market, using key intellectual property (IP) surrounding LED filament technology through its "˜Co-Activation' service.
Through this service, Epistar takes on patent licensing negotiation with strategic alliance partners to insure strong market support.
Epistar's patent portfolio covers Taiwan, China, United States, Europe and other territories. One example covered by the portfolio is an essential for making the LED filament, which is to dispose a plurality of LEDs on a transparent carrier by an adhesive layer (shown in figure 1 above).
According to Epistar, LED filament technology allows for the reproduction of omni-directional incandescent quality light and aesthetics using LED dies. Industry recognition of LED filaments as a means for manufacturing SSL incandescent lamp replacements is gaining in popularity.
