Cree LEDs used in energy-positive school
Design expected to save $16 million on its energy bills over building lifetime
Cree has announced that its LED lighting is being used as the primary lighting source in one of America's first energy-positive schools.
Newly constructed Sandy Grove Middle School in Lumber Bridge, North Carolina, is a 76,000-square-foot facility designed for maximum energy efficiency by First Floor and sister company SfL+a Architects.
Sandy Grove is projected to save Hoke County $16 million on its energy bills over the life of the building.
LED lights comprise 80 percent of the new school's lighting which features Cree's LR Series LED downlights, the CR Series of architectural LED troffers and LEDway street lights.The interior lights are powered by Cree TrueWhite Technology.
