Solar Cloth Company to merge with fabric structures firm

Base Structures merger will initially focus on lightweight solar carports

UK-based CIGS solar technology firm Solar Cloth Company (SCC) has announced a merger with fabric structures manufacturer Base Structures.

Together the companies will be working on designing and implementing lightweight fabric structures and carports that generate clean solar energy.

BASE Structures designs, manufactures and installs iconic fabric structures including 'Up at the O2' Walkway on the Millennium Dome, London 2012 Basketball Arena and Ben Ainslie's Racing Headquarters at Portsmouth.

By combining the two companies' expertise, they believe it will be possible to integrate renewable energy generation into elegant fabric structures at competitive prices without compromising on design or aesthetics.

The initial focus will be on a range of solar carports, where the companies see potential for public and private businesses with car parks to save money on energy bills through solar generation.
