Ams Osram launches first high-power multi-die laser package
Ams Osram has introduced the first product from its new Vegalas Power series of high-power laser diodes for projection applications, based on multiple GaN-based power lasers combined in a single module.
The new PLPM7_455QA laser achieves a high optical power output of 42 W in short pulse cycles and approximately 45 percent Wall-Plug Efficiency (WPE). It marks the debut of a new series of high-performance laser light sources. Ams Osram says this positions the company as a one-stop-shop provider of emitters and sensors for projection applications, based on three pillars: LEDs, lasers, and sensors.
The company now offers LEDs in various colours, available in SMT and Metal Core Board (MCB) packages optimised for efficient heat dissipation. Its sensor portfolio ranges from direct Time-of-Flight (dToF) modules for distance measurement to photodetectors. The company’s new laser segment uses high-power GaN laser technology in the visible wavelength range with products are available in both single- and multi-die packages.
